COMMENTS:

• Donald Glass (Auchabrack) is thought by various Glass researchers to be the same Donald Glass baptised Inchnabobart in 1736.  According to documented sources in Birse, there is a 10 year time difference in ages.  If he is one and the same, then his parents are James Glass and Margaret Gordon.  
• James Glass married Margaret Coutts in Birse in 1850.  (My maternal 2x gt grandparents).  According to the 1851 census Margaret was born in Birse c1824.  All possible Margaret’s born in Birse at this time have been checked and excluded.  No Margaret with an un-recorded baptism appears in the 1825 List of Inhabitants for Birse compiled by the Rev Joseph Smith.  No death certificate has been found for Margaret indicating she died before the advent of civil registration in Scotland.  I have made the assumption that she is the daughter of George Coutts and Isabel Gordon based on the interaction with Gordon/Coutts families.
• Given the interaction between these families, is Jean Gordon (spouse of Charles Glass) and Francis Gordon in Loinveg (Glen Girnoc) who married 1) Margaret Glass and 2) Margaret Gordon related?  
• Jane, daughter of Isabel Coutts and Benjamin Glass will be listed separately on this site.  (“Whitestone” Margaret)

Note:  It should be noted that the house featured in the various photographs of Auchabrack is NOT the house where the Glass family lived. As far as I can establish, they lived on the western side of the area known as Auchabrack.  I am inclined the believe the house itself was on the back wall of the dyke.
