The census files are large, they are attached in .pdf format.  Once open they can be searched using the “find” facility at the top of the page (Ctrl + f).  If you do not have Adobe, it is available here
Some of these census entries were very hard to read. This is especially so for the 1861 census for Birse. They have not been double checked.  If in doubt please check the original document.

STRAYS:

Folk I find who were born in Birse but have strayed to other parts.   They are not in alphabetical order and you need to check all the way through as some names are listed more than once.  I am happy to add information if you know these families.

1861 census:

Bain / Begg / Christie / Cooper / Coutts / Davidson / Dinnie / Ewan / Frain / Harper / Ingram / Knox / McPetrie / Main / Michie / Middleton / Paterson / Ritchie / Ross / Stewart / Simpson / Smith / Strachan / Thow / Turner / Young

1871 census:

Archibald / Bain / Begg / Birse / Birss / Bowman / Brown / Cattanach / Coutts / Dinnie / Fenton / Ferries / Ingram / Law / Low / Milne / Paterson / Petrie / Rae / Ritchie / Ross / Shaw / Smith / Stewart / Troup / Turner

A section of Aboyne (Dalsack and Percie) remained detached until 1889 when they became part of the Parish of Birse.  Because of the high numbers of Birse Folk residing there, they are included here for 1861 and 1871.
