RITCHIE, James in Auchaballa

Birse Parish Registers have the following marriages for a James Ritchie:

• May 16 1784:  Contracted James Ritchie in Parish of Strachan and Elspet Fyfe in this and after were married June 15th

• March 26 1797:  Contracted James Ritchie and Isabel Petrie both in this parish and after regular proclamations and no objections married April 6^th.

Is this the same James Ritchie? 

Lists of Inhabitants for Birse from 1789 until 1795 have the family of James Ritchie and Elspet Fyfe residing at Auchaballa.  With them is an Edward Ritchie. Checking the IGI, there is a baptism for an Edward Ritchie to a James Ritchie in Strachan 12 June 1785.  This Edward is with the family on the 1789 / 1791 / 1795 / 1797 lists. 

Strachan Parish Registers:  1785 June 12: Jas Ritchie in Gellan a son baptised named Edward Ritchy

James married Isabel Petrie in 1797.  Note that he is given on the List of Inhabitants for 1797/1798 as living at Auchaballa, with his spouse Isabel and Edward Ritchie. 

James Ritchie and Isobel Petrie had the following children listed in the Birse Parish Registers:

• February 25 1798: James Ritchie in Auchaballa had a son baptised John.  Witnesses Peter Milne and Wm Bain

• January 26 1800: James Ritchie in Auchaballa had a son baptised named Joseph.  Witnesses the congregation.

• July 25 1802: James Ritchie in Auchaballa had a son baptised named Archibald.  Witnesses the congregation.

On the 1792 listing for Auchaballa, James Ritchie's age is given as 5 meaning he was between 40 and 50 years old.  (Born between 1742-1752).  Elspet Fyfe is given as 6 i.e. between 50 and 60 years old (born between 1732 and 1742)
