Peter Littlejohn died on 7 Feb 1858 at Percie Aboyne. His death certificate
(Aboyne #5) gives his parents as Alexander Littlejohn and Christina Aberdein. Hugh Littlejohn, his son, was the informant on the death certificate and gave Peter's age as 86½ years old - this would make his date of birth abt Aug 1771.

1860 Sacred to the memory of PETER LITTLEJOHN d. at Percy 7 Feb 1858 aged 86, his son PETER d. 27 Mar 1847 aged 23. His wife ELIZABETH DAVIE d. 22 June 1850 aged 33. Their family: HUGH & JESSIE d. 7 & 22 Jan 1860 aged 15 & 13. His wife JANET BURNETT d. 3 May 1866 aged 80.
Despite the fact that Peter's place of birth is given on the 1851 census as Birse, one wonders if he is the same Peter Littlejohn christened in Coull on the 9th August 1771, his father is given as Alexander Littlejohn.
Coull Parish Registers: 16 August 1771 Alexander Littlejohn in Lochmanse had a son baptised named Peter. Witnesses William Ramsay in a Pendicle of Coull and Peter Littlejohn in Stonieford.
If Peter Littlejohn in Birse is the same as the Peter born in Coull then he had two brothers, William and John. Their death certificates record their parents as Alexander Littlejohn and Christian James.
PETER LITTLEJOHN married JANET BURNETT (daughter of Hugh Burnett and Elizabeth Birse) on 3 Sept 1807 in Birse. Janet was chr 21 June 1786 at Balfedie and died 3 May 1866 at Garthend Glentanner

August 29 1807: Contracted Peter Littlejohn and Janet Burnett both in this parish and after regular proclamations and no objections made married 3rd September.
The had the following children:
1. DAVID
June 26 1808: Peter Littlejohn in Bottom had a son baptised named David. Witnesses David Burnett and his wife.
Banns were called for the marriage of David Littlejohn and Ann Davidson on Feby 20 1842 Contracted David Littlejohn with Anne Davidson both in Birse and after proclamation were married by GS

Peter died 23 June 1888 at Westerton in Durris. Ann died at Midmar on 4 Oct 1893.
David and Ann had the following children:
September 8 1843 - David Littlejohn farmer in Oldywarren and his wife Anne Davidson had a son baptised William
December 8 1845 - David Littlejohn in Glenchatt and his wife Anne Davidson had a child baptised named Helen. Witnesses William Davidson and his wife in Glencatt.
November 12 1847 - David Littlejohn and his wife Anne Davidson in Glencatt had a son baptised named David. Witnesses Charles Jolly in Kinminity and James Davidson Balfour.
Aug 19 1851 - David Littlejohn Oldywarran and his wife Anne Davidson had a son baptised named Alexander.
April 28 1853 - David Littlejohn and his wife Anne Davidson in Glencatt had a son baptised named Hugh.
2. ELIZABETH
October 7 1810: Peter Littlejohn in Balfedie had a child baptised named Elizabeth before witnesses Andrew Ross in Boghead and David Burnett in Balfedie.
Banns were called for the marriage of Elizabeth Littlejohn and James Robertson on 24 April 1831. Contracted James Robertson in Parish of Aboyne and Eliz Littlejohn in this parish and after regular proclamation of marriage banns and no objections were married 13th May before witnesses.
Elizabeth died 1 July 1897 at Percie Aboyne. James Robertson died 15 December 1862 at Percie, Aboyne.
The had the following children all born in Aboyne: Fanny (1832), Elizabeth (1834), James (1836), Archibald (1839), Elspet (1841), Catherine (1843), Alexander (1845), Andrew (1847), Mary (1849), Francis (1851), William (1854), David (1857).
3. ALEXANDER
Mar 14 1814: Peter Littlejohn and his wife Janet Burnett had a son baptised named Alexander before witnesses viz David Burnett and Alexr Burnett in Balfedie where the said Peter Littlejohn also resides.
Alexander married Christian Burness. on May 23 1852 the following banns were called: Contracted Alexander Littlejohn and Elspet Burness in Birse and after proclamation of banns were married before witnesses.
4. CHRISTIAN
September 21 1817: Peter Littlejohn in Balfedie and his wife Janet Burnett had a daughter baptised named Christian before the congregation.
Christian had an illegitimate son Peter baptised on Feby 16 1847 Christian Littlejohn in Glencatt unmarried woman had a bastard child baptised by Mr Millar. The father was Peter Begg servant at Balfour.
Christian then married William Cooper in 1849. After being contracted and their matrimonial publickly
(sic) intimated in the parish church of Birse were married William Cooper and Christian Littlejohn both in Birse in the presence of competent witnesses.
They had the following children:
William Cooper and his wife Christian Littlejohn in Glencatt had a son baptised named William. Witnesses George Cooper the child’s grandfather in Glentanner and David Littlejohn in Glencatt

5. HELEN
June 18 1820: Peter Littlejohn in Balfedie and his wife Janet Burnett had a daughter baptised named Helen. David Burnett Windseye and Dav Burnet in Tillycroy were witnesses.
Helen married Alexander Lumsden, banns were called January 10 1841 Contracted Alexander Lumsden and Helen Littlejohn both in Birse and after proclamation were married by GS (George Smith).
They had the following children born in Aboyne: David (1841), Jessie (1843), John (1845), John (1848), Alexander (1850), Helen (1853), Robert (1856).
6. PETER
June 13 1823: Peter Littlejohn in Tillyfruskie and his wife Janet Burnett had a son baptised named Peter. John Robbie in Tillyfrusky and Fras Low E Clune witnesses.
No marriage record has been located to date for the marriage of Peter to Elizabeth Davie.

They had the following children:
April 16 1844 Peter Littlejohn and his wife Eliz Devie in Waterside had a son baptised Hugh
March 4 1846 Peter Littlejohn and his wife Eliz Davie had a daughter baptised named Jessie. David Littlejohn and Jas Robertson Jn witnesses
The above stone records death dates for both these children. The death certificate of Jessie states she died of scarlet fever.
7. HUGH
1826 January 4: Peter Littlejohn and his wife Janet Burnett had a child baptised named Hugh. Witnesses John Robie farmer Tillyfruskie and David Burnett in Windseye and others.
Hugh married Ann Clark in Glenmuick in 1869.
Hugh died in 1894 in Tillycroy Birse. Ann Clark died 1933 at Balnahard Birse.
They had the following children born at Crathie and Braemar. Alexander Henry (1870), Jessie Ann (1872) and Lizzie (1874).
Ann Clark was the daughter of Alexander Clark and Elizabeth Brown. Her sister Janet married Lewis Littlejohn in Glenmuick in in 1852.
Lewis Littlejohn was the son of John Littlejohn mentioned above who may be the brother of Peter Littlejohn Snr.
