June 29 1783:  Contracted George Begg in Parish of Lumphanan with Anne Ritchie in this and after were married on the same day.

March 1 1801:  Contracted William Davidson and Helen Begg both in this parish and after regular proclamations and no objections made married 17th March.

These families are living in the Forest of Birse.  The Forest was divided into two separate areas known as East (Finzean) Park - Auchabrack and West (Aboyne) Park.

Erected by WILLIAM DAVIDSON farmer in Balfour in memory of his spouse HELEN BEGG d 22 Feb 1846 aged 69, said WILLIAM DAVIDSON was interred here 4 September 1861 aged 85.

1850:  After they had been contracted on 12th January after their matrimonial banns had been publicly intimated in the parish church of Birse were married Robert Calder in this parish and Jane Begg of Aboyne in the presence of witnesses.

November 9 1850:  Robert Calder Drumneachy and his wife Jane Begg had a son baptised named James Robert. (mother of child died soon after)

   Robert Calder is the s/o Joseph Calder and Mary Ettershank.  3 children located so far:

1. Jean  20 January 1803 Kincardine O’Neil
2. John 27 January 1805 Kincardine O’Neil married 11 December 1831 Birse Elizabeth Cattanach (d/o Shaw Cattanach and Elizabeth Mitchell born 27 January 1806 Birsebegg.    Shaw was born Forest of Birse then moved to Birsebegg) John died 30 Nov 1870; Elizabeth 10 May 1903 – buried Birse kirkyard.

Erected by ROBERT CALDER farmer in Drumneachie in memory of his wife JANE BEGG d. 9 November 1850 aged 35.  Said ROBERT CALDER d. 18 May 1865 aged 58.

1848 June 13:  John Begg residing in the Forest and his wife Mary Caddam had a child born and afterward baptised named George

1850 April 7:  John Begg residing in the Forest and his wife Mary Caddam had a child born and afterwards baptised named John.

1852 July 19:  John Begg residing in the Forest and his wife Mary Caddam had a child born and afterwards baptised named William

1854 April 28:  John Begg residing in the Forest and his wife Mary Caddam had a child born and afterwards baptised named Mary.

Erected in memory of ALEXANDER BEGG d. Berriesloch, Birse 18 May 1903 aged 43, his father JOHN BEGG d. there 23 Dec 1903 aged 77.  Also there on 28 May 1905 MARY McADAM wife of JOHN BEGG aged 84.

Sacred to the memory of PETER BEGG d. 29 Feb 1884 aged 56.  His youngest dau. HELEN d. 15 May 1874 aged 1 year 11 months.  His wife MARY ROSS d. Fairlea, Alford 27 Jan 1918 aged 86.

Erected in memory of JOHN BEGG farmer d. Little Mill, Ballater 28 Jan 1922 aged 71; dau MARGARET d. Forest of Birse 15 Mar 1890 aged 4 months; son ALEXANDER killed in France 1917, son GEORGE d. Rockford U.S.A. 13 Mar 1927 aged 39.  JANE CATTANACH* wife of above JOHN BEGG** d. Little Mill, Ballater 4 December 1928 aged 79; daus. JANE d. 10 Aug 1935 aged 54, Elizabeth d. Ballater 17 March 1969 aged 83.

December 3 1808:  Contracted Alexander Durward in parish of Aboyne and Margaret Begg in the parish of Birse and after regular proclamations and no objections made married 19^th December

August 2 1817:  Alexander Durward in Tillyorn and his wife Margt Begg had a daughter baptised named Margaret.  Jas Finlay and Willm Henry (this could read Finlay) in Wester Clune were witnesses.

1839.  Erected by MARGARET BEGG residing at Templeton of Strachan in memory of her husband ALEXANDER DURWARD d. 21 Sept 1838 aged 73 also 2 of their children viz:  MARGARET d. in infancy 1817 and WILLIAM d. 17 may 1836 aged 26.  MARGARET BEGG d. 21 Nov 1841 aged 57.

BEGG, Peter

July 24 1848:  Peter Begg in Bellastren Glentanar Aboyne had an illegitimate child baptised named Alexander.  Witnesses were James Mitchell and Forbes Grant in said place – mother was Janet Grant residing in Forest.

June 29 1817:  Robert Mitchel in Craigley and his wife Sarah Begg had a daughter baptised named Helen.  William Davidson and George Davidson both in Balfour witnesses

July 31 1819:  Robert Mitchel in Craigley and his wife Sarah Begg had a son baptised named James before the congregation.

Jany 10 1822:  Robert Mitchel in Craigley and his wife Sarah Begg had a child baptised named Margaret.  Wm Davidson and James Smith in Balfour witnesses

January 25 1824:  Robert Mitchel subtenant Balfour and his wife Sara Begg had a child baptised named Sarah.  Wm Davidson and James Smith both in Balfour were witnesses.
