Erected by WILLIAM DAVIDSON farmer in Balfour in memory of his spouse HELEN BEGG d 22 Feb 1846 aged 69, said WILLIAM DAVIDSON was interred here 4 September 1861 aged 85.

1850:  After they had been contracted on 12th January after their matrimonial banns had been publicly intimated in the parish church of Birse were married Robert Calder in this parish and Jane Begg of Aboyne in the presence of witnesses.

 

November 9 1850:  Robert Calder Drumneachy and his wife Jane Begg had a son baptised named James Robert. (mother of child died soon after)

 

   Robert Calder is the s/o Joseph Calder and Mary Ettershank.  3 children located so far:

  1. Jean  20 January 1803 Kincardine O’Neil
  2. John 27 January 1805 Kincardine O’Neil married 11 December 1831 Birse Elizabeth Cattanach (d/o Shaw Cattanach and Elizabeth Mitchell born 27 January 1806 Birsebegg.    Shaw was born Forest of Birse then moved to Birsebegg) John died 30 Nov 1870; Elizabeth 10 May 1903 – buried Birse kirkyard.

Jany 10 1822:  Robert Mitchel in Craigley and his wife Sarah Begg had a child baptised named Margaret.  Wm Davidson and James Smith in Balfour witnesses
