WILLIAM GAULD married ELIZABETH ANDERSON on 04 Feb 1786  Contracted William Gauld in the parish of Strachan with Eliz Anderson in this and after were married Feby 4th (Birse Parish Registers)

 

Children of WILLIAM GAULD and ELIZABETH ANDERSON

The family of William Gauld and Elizabeth Anderson are given on the Lists of Inhabitants residing at the Ennochies (possibly Ordie) from 1794 - 1812.  Since they already have three children Ann, James and Isabel at this time it is not known where they were born.  It is noted that both James and Isabel give their place of birth as Strachan on census records, this is reflected in the following information. 

 

 

JAMES GAULD was born May 1787 in Strachan, and died 16 Apr 1866 in Linn of Dye, Strachan. He married (1) JANE MIDDLETON 18 Sept 1817 (IGI) and (2) JANE WATSON 3 June 1832 daughter of [unknown] WATSON and ELSPET TURRIFF. (ELSPET TURRIFF  died 27 April 1839 according to Strachan Parish Registers.)   JANE WATSON died at East Templeton, Strachan on 3 Feb 1875 aged 78.  Her son James Gauld was the informant.

1832 June 3:  James Gaul and Jane Watson, both in this parish were regularly proclaimed and married.

ISABELL GAULD was born Abt. 1789 in Strachan, and died 01 May 1874 in Bingley, Strachan. She married GEORGE MIDDLETON 12 Aug 1812 in Birse. He was born 17 Dec 1788 died in Strachan and died 21 July 1871 at Bingley Strachan.  Parents given on his death certificate (Strachan #7) were William Middleton and Margaret Clerk.

 

Birse Parish Registers:  June 6 1812 Contracted George Middleton in Strachan and Isabel Gauld in Birse and after regular proclamations and no objections made were married August 12th.

2. JOSEPH GAULD was born 11 Jan 1823, and died 22 Mar 1894 in Church Street, Edzell, Angus. He married BETSY GORDON 10 Nov 1848 in Strachan, daughter of ROBERT GORDON and HELEN WALKER. She was born Abt. 1824 in Lethnot, Angus, and died 29 Nov 1910 in 8 Manse Lane, Edzell, Angus

 

Strachan Parish Registers: Joseph Gauld in this parish and Betsy Gordon in the parish of Lethnot were finally proclaimed here on 5th November prior to marriage at Lethnot on 10th Nov. (1848)
